May 24 has no owner yet

On May 24, 1844, American inventor Samuel Morse sent the first long-distance electric telegraph message, from the Capitol in Washington to Baltimore. The message, chosen by the daughter of a business associate, read "What hath God wrought?" (Numbers 23:23). Morse's telegraph revolutionised communications and was the direct predecessor of the telephone and internet.

On May 24, 1956, the first Eurovision Song Contest was held in Lugano, Switzerland, with seven countries participating. The winner was Lys Assia, representing the host Switzerland. The contest, organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) as a project of European cultural union after World War II, has become the most-watched non-sporting television show in the world, with more than 160 million viewers.

On May 24, 1738, Anglican preacher John Wesley experienced his famous "heart-warming conversion" during a meeting in Aldersgate Street, London, when he felt his heart "strangely warmed" while listening to a reading of Luther's preface to the Epistle to the Romans. This conversion led him to found Methodism, which today has more than 80 million followers worldwide.
