On September 30, 1791, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart attended the premiere of The Magic Flute at the Theater auf der Wieden in Vienna. The opera, filled with Masonic symbolism, was an immediate popular success. Mozart would die just two months later, on December 5, 1791, aged 35, leaving his Requiem unfinished.
