🇧🇷1822

On September 7, 1822, Prince Pedro de Braganza proclaimed the independence of Brazil on the banks of the Ipiranga river, in a gesture known as the Cry of Independence. Brazil became the only country in Latin America to gain independence peacefully from its metropolis and to choose monarchy as its form of government for nearly seventy years.

On September 7, 1812, Napoleon's army and the Russian army of General Kutuzov clashed at the Battle of Borodino, 120 kilometres from Moscow, in the bloodiest battle of the Napoleonic Wars. More than 70,000 soldiers died in a single day. Napoleon won the battlefield but could not destroy the Russian army.

On September 7, 1927, American inventor Philo Farnsworth made the first successful demonstration of electronic television in his San Francisco laboratory, transmitting an image of a straight line. Just 21 years old, Farnsworth had achieved what no engineer had managed before: transmitting moving images with no mechanical parts.
