On June 8, 793, Viking warriors from Norway attacked and plundered the monastery of Lindisfarne on the northeast coast of England — the first major documented Viking attack in Western Europe. On June 8, 1968, James Earl Ray was arrested at Heathrow Airport in London, two months after murdering Reverend Martin Luther King Jr. in Memphis. Ray, who had escaped from a Missouri prison in 1967, was extradited to the US and sentenced to 99 years in prison. He never revealed whether he acted alone or if there was a conspiracy. He died in prison in 1998.
